District Newsflash (9/5/2013): The Mariners Fall Season is Upon Us..Check them Out!! :-)

Posted on Sep 5 2013 - 8:47pm

Your local Sea Scout Ship, the Mariners Fall season is starting very soon.   An information meeting for any who are interested is scheduled for this Wednesday, September 11 at 6:30 PM  at Dana Point Sailing and Events Center.   Sea Scouting is a co-ed program for high school aged youth.   There is also a Mariner Jr program for 12 and 13 year old youth (also co-ed).   If you might be interested in either program... come down to the harbor to see what it is all about.   Tell your sisters or daughters (of appropriate age) about the program!    Don't miss out on this fantastic program.   Almost every participating graduating youth says that their participation in the Mariner's program was the best thing they did.

Josh was just elected to lead a team to the Rendezvous competition to culminate the fall season just after Thanksgiving.   Josh was off on End-of-Summer Cruise and the English George regatta at Catalina a couple weeks ago and a few weeks prior was on Long Cruise for 9 days aboard the Tall Ship Spirit of Dana Point.    Speak with Josh  if you have any questions about the program.   If you want to speak with an adult... contact Jeff Johnson.

Check out the Mariner Website - mariners936.com for more info.

Our Roundtable Commisioner Corner: Planning For September 2013's Roundtable

Posted on Aug 29 2013 - 8:51am
In September's Roundtable,  our focus is on Webelos Faire which will be set up in the gym.     I can open the building at 5:30pm. Please come early to help set up

I begin by congratulating Troop 700.  Troop 700 was acknowledged in the Mammoth Lakes & Trails website, www.mltpa.org for their extraordinary service efforts this past summer.  Way to go SEVEN DOUBLE O!!

We have got a great plan before us  for September.  Our goal is for each of you to  set up booths to field questions on Popcorn, Scouting for Food, SOR, Camporall, Advancement & Merit Badge information, Training opportunities, Adult Awards, Religious awards, Recruitment ideas, Camping tips, etc.

This will  be our Midway down the center of the gym,  with the troops surrounding District Booths. Bring your props, tables (we have only a few tables) handouts and dazzle them with your brilliance!  Interact with the visitors. We lose the audience with boring announcements. Do you have any contacts to invite any vendors who may want to attend too? Big 5 , REI, Sports Chalet, etc  please pass along to me or ask them directly if they want to attend and set up a table.

Troop assignments are noted as follows:

            • Troop 734 gathering activity 6:45-7
            •  Troop 772 Greeter. raffle
            •  Troop 773 opening flag
            •  Troop 700 prayer
            •  Troop 774 Closing flag
We can use  all hands on deck to help the troops get their areas with the middle section reserved for our Announcement tables.  The troops should set up on the perimeters with the middle area as our MIDWAY. Bring your district materials and be set up and ready by 6:30pm.

Whatever items you have that you can donate will be appreciated, just let me know.     Please also make sure to send any annoucements or information you wish included in our September Roundtable Newsletter in to me by September 5.

We are hoping for a large crowd and to capture the interest of parents. This may be the only RT they attend.     We conclude with one late breaking development for October's Roundtable:   Ryan Pugh will attend the October 2013 Roundtable to lead the discussions on moderating a Patrol Leadership Council (PLC).  Please have your SPL's plan on attending.

Thanks for all your support.   Have a wonderful Labor Day Week-End.
