Gearing Up For the December 2013 Roundtable: A Sitdown w/our Roundtable Commissioner

Posted on Nov 21 2013 - 8:41pm
We here @ "Tiburon on the Web" had a chance to have a "Virtual Chat" with our Roundtable Commisioner this week on what's the latest that is going.   We had a conversation about November highlights.    We have released the Tiburon November RT Newsletter for all to review as it was quite a month that saw a Scholarship Winner from Troop 773, a number of our Scouts attaining Eagle and other very enlightening events.   Look for further updates as we await a formal update from our District Advancement Chair.

She reflected upon a very busy December 12, 2013 Roundtable.  There are number of key breakouts/events scheduled that she underscored for all to be aware of:

  • Early breakout has been scheduled for  Each Troop (Traditional and LDS) need to designate a representative to attend and be on the planning committee. Every Scoutmaster should attend this  planning session for agreement on organizational matters. This will be a joint Tiburon & ECR Camporee and all hands on deck are needed.   Camporee is scheduled for April 25-27 2014 @ El Portero.
  • A "Call Out" to Cubmasters and Pack Committee Chairs to invite all  Den Leaders, parents and Cubs to attend roundtable that would feature Kimberly Pearson & Kirk Hobcock, our District Cub Commisioners, holding a Pinewood Derby Demo!!   Hope to see everyone bringing their fastest cars and "Let 'em Race" :-)
  • Our Advancement Chair will be leading a breakout on "The Keys of Success for the Eagle Scout Rank Application Process".    As noted by Mr. Clements, "...Please make sure to attend this to learn how to properly prepare an Eagle Scout Candidate "Packet" and how to avoid the most common mistakes on the Eagle Scout Application. All Committee Chairs, Advancement Chairs and Eagle Coaches should attend. Review recent changes that you may not be aware of! Valuable and rare informational hand-outs will be available for those that attend! "
Don't forget to join the deliberations at LDS-Alicia on December 12.

Around the District (11/23/2013): A Brief Update For All

Posted on Nov 21 2013 - 8:39pm

As we gear up for December, we here @ "Tiburon on the Web" held "Virtual Chats" members of our leadership team.   They shared the following:

  • Our District Commisioner, Mr. Dart, noted not to forget recharter packets.   The team is available for appointments to either pick up or if possible, have all recharters dropped off at the December Roundtable.     Recharter continue to trickle in.
  • Our District Executive noted this on the December 12 roundtable: it is BYOCB (Bring Your Own Cracker Barrel).
  • Don't forget to join the fun @ the annual  Laguna Niguel Parade December 14.  Come join the fun with T772 and T773.
  •  A new "public relations" corner has been launched, along with an updated District Committee List & a Social Media Page.    We here @ "Tiburon on the Web" wish to express our thanks to Mr. Mark Pugh for having taken the time to launch these for us here @ "Tiburon on the Web".

A Blast From the Past: A Conversation w/our District Executive

Posted on Nov 21 2013 - 1:44pm
We here @ "Tiburon on the Web" had a chance to catch up with our District Executive this week.     He reflected upon his visit with ASM Downhower @ Troop 773--who is himself an Eagle Scout.    We also had a "Virtual Chat" with ASM Downhower on this as he reflected upon his position with his local Troop (Troop 501) and how he served as SPL for his Troop (Troop 501).

We hope you enjoy this Time Magazine Article from ASM Downhower's adventure:

Scouting For Food 2013 is History..& A Smashing Success :-)

Posted on Nov 14 2013 - 6:21pm

We here @ "Tiburon On the Web" just some great news from the Council Activities Director, Rachel Cueva, which we wanted to report on:

Congratulations and Thank You to you all!   We collected 70,254 pounds of food at our district sites, that’s 7,050 more pounds than last year and we have not included the pounds from the supermarkets.  This is by site only. Lorina at Second Harvest said the pounds received and the money received is providing 63,201 meals, once again not including the supermarkets.  Stay tuned for more information, what an awesome Scouting For Food Year!

Enough said!!

Congratulations to all--and a special thanks to our District Scouting for Food Chair, Mr. Souza for spreaheading this effort for us here @ Tiburon.

Onward :-)
